Specialized OCD & Anxiety Treatment

Anxiety Therapy Red Bank

The first therapy session, also called an intake, will look different from future visits. The goal of the initial visit is to get to know each other and discuss the issues that led you to seek counseling.  You will be asked questions about your history, including your childhood, education, relationships (family, romantic, friends), your current living situation, your career, and most importantly the history of the issue which led you to seek counseling.  By the end of the session we should be able to identify your counseling goals. You are free to ask about my experience, counseling methods, office policies, and anything else on your mind.   You are under no obligation to continue therapy, however, I recommend coming to at least 2 sessions before making this decision as very little treatment takes places during the initial evaluation.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR INTAKE

There are several things that you can do in advance of the intake appointment to ensure a productive session. One useful way to prepare is to review and complete the intake paperwork listed on the Forms tab of this website. You can also collect any relevant documentation and bring copies to the intake for review. If you do not have access to a printer, these forms will be provided for you to complete at your first visit. You should arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment time to allow you enough time to complete the paperwork before your appointment.  You may also bring previous evaluations or medical records for me to review as these documents may be helpful with treatment.

Scheduling Your First Appointment

It is important to review your insurance coverage prior to the intake appointment.

At this time I am only contracted with Cigna Behavioral Health . Your counseling services may be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, medical spending or health care savings accounts. If you have "out of panel" or "out of network" insurance benefits, you will still be required to pay the full fee at the time that services are provided. You will be provided with a receipt, which has all the information that your insurance company typically requests. You could then submit the receipt to your insurance company for whatever reimbursement they allow.  It is important that you understand that you are entering into a private contract with Lauren Pellizzi, which may be outside the parameters of your insurance plan. Health insurance plans and benefits vary. Please call your insurance provider to inquire about reimbursement for out-of-network counseling services.

If you would like to investigate the possibility of reimbursement for out-of-network coverage, please check your policy carefully and ask your provider the following questions:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What is my deductible and has it been met?
How many sessions per calendar year does my insurance plan cover?
How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network mental health provider?
How do I obtain reimbursement for therapy with an out-of-network provider?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Is prior authorization required for routine outpatient services?
