There are a number of different theoretical approaches in the field of psychotherapy. Therapy may look very different from one approach to another. I offer a number of empirically supported treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP).
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a term used to describe a form of treatment that combines strategies used in both cognitive and behavior therapies as well as other scientifically proven evidence-based treatments. These treatments have demonstrated to be highly effective in alleviating a variety of struggles including: anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, eating disorders, relationship problems, insomnia, trauma, and various maladaptive behaviors.
All of the above approaches are considered part of the CBT umbrella.
